HBC INTENSE 94 ADVANCE TO STATE CUP FINALS, BUT TAKE FIRST LOSS IN OVER SEVEN MONTHS 0-1 IN STATE CUP FINALS
After an unbeaten streak over over 7 months, the GU14 HBC INTENSE 94 took its first loss 0-1 to competitor Massapequa Elite. HBC INTENSE 94 failed to convert several early chances in the match leaving a tough opponent around for a chance at victory. Massapequa Elite scored 1-0 in the first half and played tough defense to preserve the win.
"I would like to commend Massapequa Elite and their coach Christine Ho on their great effort and success in today’s cup final. While we were disappointed that we were not the winner of this year’s cup, we wish the Massapequa Elite team, parents and coaches the best of the luck in the upcoming regional event." commented HBC INTENSE 94 coach Ron Alber.
Ron added, "I am so proud of my HBC INTENSE 94 girls. They have battled against obstacle after obstacle. First, a valued goal
scoring member of the team sat the season out. Then we lost a great player to an ACL tear. Then we lost one of our top level forwards due to a leg injury. And the week leading up to the cup we lost another forward due to illness. It was just a series of obstacles that continuously tested our strength as a team."
HBC INTENSE 94 will host its try outs this week, Thursday 6/18 and Friday 6/19, 6:30-8:00 at HBC’s Half Hollow Soccer park in search of a few players to join our wonderful team and family.
