ISA STING

INTENSE SOCCER ACADEMY (ISA) has established ISA STING, a club program with training and match bases in both Suffolk County, New York and Westchester County, New York, in order to provide nationally competitive soccer players access to a club platform run by full time paid professionals.  All ISA STING teams will play under one club banner, one brand, one club uniform, under the directorship of full time directors of coaching and staff in the pursuit of competing at a nationally competitive level.  ISA has established various Development School Satellites in various USYSA club programs, which serve as a feeder to the ISA STING program.  This has enabled ISA to establish critical mass at the pre-academy ages in order to be more selective in identifying the best players for the top level of the program.  ISA has access to EXCELLENT FACILITIES (natural and artificial turf) spread throughout Suffolk and Westschester Counties, which enables ISA to execute its DEVELOPMENTAL CURRICULUM & PHILOSOPHY.  As evidenced by ISA’s ALUMNI list, ISA has a proven track record for placing its members into competitive NCAA Division 1 college soccer programs.

ABOUT ISA
Since its formation in 1995, ISA has developed, coached and trained nationally competitive players and teams.  With over a dozen ENY State Championships, a USL SYL National Championship, and dozens of championships in regionally and nationally competitive leagues and tournaments, ISA has garnered the respect of its peers.  Additionally, ISA’s list of alumnae demonstrates its consistency with assisting its players in getting identified for competitive women’s college soccer play at a wide list of colleges and universities across the United States.  Presently, the program is directed by 3X Youth Coach of the Year and NSCAA Nationally Licensed, Ron Alber, and his wife, former Womens Professional Soccer star Sue Weber (now known as Sue Alber).

PARENT LIAISON FRED CORVO Fred is the primary interface between ISA Sting parents and Club administration.  Fred is also responsible for the enforcement of the parental code of conduct.

CREDENTIALED STAFF. Our coaching staff contains a list of credentialed professionals, all with a variety of special backgrounds ranging from professional and collegiate playing experience in men’s and women’s soccer, international playing experience, international coaching experience, US National ODP and Region 1 ODP playing experience, and collegiate and nationally competitive club coaching experience. All of our coaches hold an NSCAA advanced national diploma, USSF national equivalent, or higher.

ORGANIZED AND STRUCTURED CURRICULUMWe have an organized and developed curriculum which guides our staff in the training and development of our players.  Our program is heavily invested in the TECHNICAL development of our players and very conscious of creating an environment that fosters PERSONALITY and CREATIVITY. We often describe our training curriculum and philosophy as a marriage of the typical Dutch and Brazilian soccer principles.

NUTRITION, SPEED, STRENGTH, AGILITY & ACL INJURY PREVENTION. Our program for the U14-U19 includes specialized nutrition, speed, strength, agility and ACL injury prevention training. This program is directed by CATZ Long Island
http://www.catzli.com. Our players participate in an 8 week program (2x per week) twice per year, for a total of 16 sessions.

SPECIALIZED STRIKER TRAINING. All strikers and wingers receive specialized training which is performed by members of our staff.

SPECIALIZED GOALKEEPER TRAINING. All goalkeepers receive specialized goalkeeper training which is performed by our goalkeeping coaches, including head coach Peter Shank.

PLAYER EVALUATIONS. All players within the program are formally evaluated twice per year.

STAFF EVALUATIONS. All staff members are formally reviewed at least once per year. This review includes observation of game management and training execution elements.

VIDEO TAPING FOR GAME & TRAINING REVIEW. Videotaping game and training footage has become a regular occurrence for our teams. We have now adopted a policy requires each team to tape at least 10 matches and 5 training sessions per year.

FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE. All players within the program are eligible to apply for financial assistance within our program. Our policy is that no player gets left behind because of diminished financial abilities.  ISA waives collecting ISA training fees for any player who is a current member of the US National ODP pool for the seasonal year.  ISA also discounts the collection of ISA training fees for any player who is a current member of the Region 1 ODP pool for the seasonal year.  For families who demonstrate a financial hardship, ISA may also cover uniform and other team related expenses on behalf of said player so that such costs are not passed on to other members of the team.  ISA also offers each family an opportunity to raise funds within the ISA program.  For example:  ISA players may earn a $25 per player credit for every camper successfully solicited and registered for ISA camp by such ISA player.  So if an ISA player were to register 20 players or more for an ISA camp program, the ISA player who receive a credit of $500 (20 * $25).

CALENDAR MANAGEMENT. We are very conscious of the true need to actively manage the active calendars for all of our players. The essential budgeting of time for rest and recovery is something we include in every team’s annual calendar. Our approach in maintaining a training-to-game ratio of 3:1 and our approach to minimizing the quantity of games and improving the quality of our opponents is greatly aiding in the development of our players.

PROFESSIONAL TRAINING ENVIRONMENT. All players are provided with training gear and equipment to further foster a professional training environment.

MISSION STATEMENT. Our mission is to develop players for selection to the US National teams, collegiate soccer programs and competition on a national platform through: (1) quality training and coaching; (2) competition against nationally competitive and recognized opponents; (3) access to quality training and match facilities; (4) a well rounded and comprehensive training regimen; and (5) exposure to scouts and coaches responsible for selecting players for advanced levels of play.

REFERENCES. References supporting our program’s strength and reputation for developing nationally competitive players and teams are available upon request. Our reference sources include college coaches, professional players in the WPS, nationally respected coaching peers (including members within the ECNL), and former players.
